Let me just dive into it and say most people begin job search and is only one question on your mind – – How am I going to find a job? That’s a good question, but it works with the assumption of desperation. Frankly, most of you don’t need to be desperate. I understand that you may be scared or worried or frightened about this entire thing. What’s going on? Where am I going to find work? All the sort of doubts start to show up when you begin job search.
Let’s look at things from a different perspective. Let’s work from the place of “I’m going to have choices to make.” Quite obviously, you may not but I would like you to start off by at least getting clear about this 1 question: “What’s most important to you in the next job organization? What will you need to see you are hear to believe is the right place for you to join?”
You may have a lot of different answers from this… That’s terrific. I want you taking and hour. 40 minutes. Whatever amount of time, you may feel comfortable. You can always add to the list. The idea is to ask yourself these questions.
Here is the follow-up tasks to this. I want you to prioritize your answer to the 1st question.
Why is this important? It’s really simple. From the time to begin your job search until you get your job offer or multiple offers, you are going to go through ping-ponging that goes on in most job searches. You are going to get confused. People are going to say a whole bunch of stuff to you. They are going to deal with their interests but you always have to remember yours.
Let’s go back to the situation where you have multiple job offers. Everyone is going to be talking about why their job is the best for you. They don’t know you. They are trying to persuade you, hypnotize you, Using very subtle forms of coercion into accepting your offer. Having this list gives you something to refer to And use as part of the evaluation criteria.
No firm may hit all the items on your list will or will wind up looking perfect based upon your list. It is still a reminder for you. Is to look forward to a grounding place for you to evaluate and assess different alternatives.
